Valentine's Day 2014

Today my sweetie and I  took a lovely drive up the coast. We stopped along the way at different sights.   Not to brag or anything, but we live in paradise just in case you didn't already know it.

The water at San Simeon Bay was such a beautiful color and so peaceful and calm.

We saw creatures big and small.

We decided to walk along the beach south of the pier at San Simeon.  These elephant seals looked like rocks from far away.  As we got closer we realized what we were seeing.  They are humongous!!  They were actually several miles from the thousands of sea elephant rookery just below Piedres Blancas Lighthouse.

What a life the elephant seals have just hanging on the beach all day!  They yell at each other and throw sand around.

I was so excited to see this little guy.  I had not seen a banana slug in quite a while.  They are kind of gross but cute at the same time.  What do you think?

This egret was just hanging out watching the sleepy waves.

The ocean was a beautiful deep blue color.  There are sea otters and sea elephants swimming out there.

The fog was coming in and out all day making the sun play peek-a-boo!

We hiked out to the shoreline at Harmony Headlands State Park.  I do believe there is a just a tinge of green on the hillside.  It is interesting to see such brown hills in February next to an ocean full of water.

We ended the day at Morro Bay for a yummy dinner at the Great American Fish Company.  The sun was beautifully setting below the fog at Morro Rock.  What a great Valentine's Day with my best friend and forever companion!  Thank you, Mike.

WALLPAPER and LOVE

Back in the olden days wallpaper used to be something that you put on the walls in your homes. I'll admit, I'm old enough to have put wallpaper on my very own walls, in my very own house.

Now, in these modern times we have wallpaper on computers and cell phones and not on the walls of our homes!! How odd is that??
The wallpaper I just plastered on my cell phone (I know it is a miracle I actually know enough technology to figure out how to do that!!) looks like this!!

This is my Valentine balloon from this past Valentines Day. It is still alive and well, and not yet deflated. It must be an omen that our love is long lasting!! Any takers on how long this balloon will last??

Valentines Day

I have never had so much fun with Valentines Day!! Or the days proceeding it. As I mention on this post, I did a "14 Days of Valentines" for my husband. We started out kind of shaking because he didn't notice the first clue. It was a card I set up in front of the computer. It had hearts in blocks that said, "I love you". It was bright and colorful, but NOT in an envelope with his name on it. So, he just moved it aside and didn't even bother to open it and read it. I think it is a guy thing!! Girls are much more curious, nothing gets by me. I read everything.

Anyway, I rambled. Everyday he got a little surprise. Anything from a banana in his lunch with "I'm bananas over you" written with marker on it, to heart soap that said, "Be Mine", to fun little candies. He even got a little toy boat that said, "your my dream boat". I know, I know it's corny. But he really enjoyed it!! I used to leave him little notes in his lunchbox those first years we were married. But the kids came and we got busy and somehow those little surprises went the way side. So, it was fun to do that again. I hope I remember to give him more little surprises, this coming year, just for no reason whatsoever!!
