Invite

It's a New Year! 2011! The start of a New Year is a great time for reflection and looking ahead. I'm not really fond of setting New Years Resolutions so this year I'm doing something different. I'm going to have a focus word. After much thought, the word is:

INVITE

Now isn't that an inviting word?? It has many ramifications. And two different roles. I need to do some inviting. However, I am also the invitee!

Here are some of the invitations I WILL BE accepting with more determination this year. They are found in the scriptures.

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
Matthew 11:28

"Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God."
Moroni 10:32

"Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life."
2 Nephi 31:20

The Lord is there willing and waiting for me to "come unto Him". When I am burdened by something He will make my way light, if only I turn to him. He has invited me to a feast. A feast upon His words. I am going to striving to spend more personal time doing just that.


And the inviting that I need to do should be simple. I, well, actually we, want to just invite more people to our home. We have not been good about that, and it needs to change. I think that what happened was, that we were rejected a few times, then I think pride just got in the way. I didn't want to be rejected again, and I want things to be perfect so I stress out, so then I just don't bother. Oh, well there are tons of excuses and none of them good. So, beware neighbors and friends, you just may get an invite for dinner or a game! Hopefully, we will get to know more people this way.

And hopefully 2011 will be a year of growth!!
