Imagine having a child in the hospital over 200 miles from your home! Where would you stay? What if you just needed to visit several doctors in the clinic, would you drive back and forth in one exhausting day.
Because Evan travels to Lucille Packard Children's Hospital to see specialists, we have been in that situation several times. One time, Evan had a horrendous 41 day stay in the hospital. Thank goodness for Ronald McDonald House!! We absolutely love it there. It's like home away from home. I can't tell you how much it meant to us to have a place to go to rest up, to cook, to just get away from the hospital. When Evan doesn't have to stay in the hospital, RMH is a fun place to play with great volunteers. A place to forgot about being sick. A place to just be a kid!! Kids can bake cookies, do crafts, play on the computer, read books, pick a toy from the treasure box, the list goes on. And wonderful people support the House by providing dinners already cooked. It's so nice to come back to the House after a long day at clinic and find a nice warm meal ready. And the best thing, it only costs a family $10 a night to stay at the house.
